Ok.. So a 0-7 drubbing wasn't exactly the kind of score we needed for our first game in a long time. I, probably us as well, have lost count of the number of games we have lost, and looking at the way this is carrying on, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where this team is heading.

It's easy to say that we are merely playing soccer for fun. But such a statement becomes an escapist line of thought when our team kicks off from the center circle far too often, and leaves matches grumbling about the referee.

A few glowing problems were evident in yesterday's match.

1. We have to play to a stable formation, which usually means 4-4-2. We are no EPL club and we are unable to play intricate formations which requires us to pass the ball 58 times before we get the ball out of defence.

2. Our central midfield is missing for most of the time. We need to have our central midfielders stay in their zone and not wonder too far off. If there is a need for central midfielders to help out in defence, one guy would track back while the other stay, which means between the two central midfielders, one would be defensive and one would be more attack-minded.

3. Our defence needs to be faster. Clear or pass the ball away quickly. Tackle harder. Make the strikers scared. Another point is to just follow your man. Only commit to a tackle when they are almost certain of scoring or you are certain of getting the ball. If not, just stick close to them but don't tackle. They will eventually lose it.

4. We lack composure and fitness. This is linked to not playing together frequently enough. We have to get more matches in our way, and meet up during the wkends for kick-abouts.
